Acts of Random Jotting
I started this page early in 2025 and did not really anything about it, but this will be where I think about any new projects that occur and that I tend to just pop into a notebook and then forget about. I think that this might become a set of very long lists.
2026
- Reading - Romance of the Three Kingdoms
- Reading - The two anthologies of Japanese Literature. And, as part of learning about Japan I want to start listening to some of the Japanese History podcasts - I am aiming for the 40 updated general history of Japan podcasts.
- Complete my photobook project - the taking, curating and creation aspects.
- Weekly nature thing - local nature, learn about something new each week - mosses, fungi, lichens would all work in winter.
- More felting of mushrooms - some every week is my goal
- Crochet - use up the wool I have and make something each quarter
- Work through the sewing book I have
- Read another couple of George Smiley novels - one done so far
- Write a haiku a day - I did this for over 2 years and then seem to have stopped
- Write some poetry every week
- Read some poetry every day - this is not really happening, although I am reading some
- Re-read the Very Short Introduction Books I have about the brain, consciousness, viruses etc
- Start reading about European History - start with France as the book is already sitting on the shelf
- Plan more things for this website
- Make more of my steps website
- Go running every week
- Learn to use Affinity Publisher
- Lots of collage
- Start rereading books
- Back to playing with art materials
- Start some regular Pilates to complement my yoga practice
- Finish the first half of the third book in the So You Really Want to Learn Latin series
- Complete some more of the Lingua Latina book - for the Latin I will need to get back to doing some Latin every day.
- Finally get round to developing all those films
- Learn more about ageing and post menopause
- Find and make biscuit recipes - and make them healthier
- Finish that fabric box
- More and different types of embroidery
- Try different grains and legumes - make more varied lunches (I don't think I can survive on pasta alone)
- Actually find a sandwich filling I can make at home that I like
- Try different types of tea
- Actually make those fabric owls that I have the pattern for
- Make my own collage glue that doesn't put plastic in the water and doesn't wrinkle paper
- Add a new section to this website for some book reviews
- Read some more varied non-fiction - something completely different once in a while
- Learn how to use brush pens for calligraphy

- Gel print onto printouts of steps, make these into 3d steps - would need to learn how to fold paper first

- Document the buildings in Daventry and compare them to various maps of years gone by
